What is GC-MS?

Simply put: GC is an instrument used to determine which chemical molecules are contained in substances, but it can only tell you where something appears and how much it is. Just like fishing radar, you can see that there are many big spots and many small spots around your fishing boat, some of which are dense and some of which are scattered, but you cannot see what these black spots are, this is the case with GC instruments.
After knowing where there are black dots, you will need to know what each dot represents. At this time, MS instrument can come in handy, and MS is responsible for corresponding to what the substance displayed by each peak of GC is.
GC-MS: gas chromatography-mass spectrometry
It is an integrated device of GC and MS, and a precision analytical instrument for detecting what (qualitative) and how much (quantitative) compounds are.
GC separates the vaporized sample into a chromatographic column, and the separated compound enters the MS for detection.
Working principle:
The principle of mass spectrometry is to use the different trajectories of different ions in the electric field or magnetic field to separate the ions according to the mass-to-charge ratio (M/Z), and to make qualitative and quantitative analysis of the substances in the sample through mass spectrometry and related information.
